Proposals for new cybercrime sanctions as part of the EU’s ‘cyber diplomacy toolbox’ are expected to be presented by Spring 2018. In interview with ACAMS Money Laundering, Of Counsel Anna Bradshaw said “any financial sanctions imposed by the European Union on state and non-state actors in response to cyberattacks could help law enforcement by stopping suspects from moving funds through the bloc’s banking system while cross-border investigations and prosecutions are underway”.
