Peters & Peters in ‘Top cases for 2022’ for celebrity film tax case
Friday 14 January, 2022
Peters & Peters’ Head of Fraud and Civil Disputes Jonathan Tickner and Of Counsel Paul Johnson are named in The Lawyer’s Top Cases of 2022 for their role acting for 125 individuals – including numerous celebrities, footballers and other sports stars – in a film financing dispute. Our clients claim fraud and misrepresentation by Ingenious Media, who were promoting purportedly tax-efficient investments in blockbuster films and video games between 2002 and 2007.
The claims, which are valued at more than £35 million, are listed for a 32-week trial between April 2022 and December 2022.
Jonathan Tickner said: “These so-called tax efficient schemes targeted high net worth individuals and were heavily promoted by Ingenious and others in the mid-2000s. Investors were misled and it is high time they got some redress.”
