Peters & Peters successfully demonstrates client is subject to vexatious allegation

This week, our client, a senior business professional, was exonerated as the Metropolitan Police confirmed that an investigation into threats to kill and common assault has been concluded with no further action being taken.

Peters & Peters was instructed to represent our client on arrest, where it became immediately clear that he had been subjected to a false and vexatious allegation. The case was also peculiar in that it was in fact our client who had called the police, but it was he who was arrested.

In interview, a detailed prepared statement was drafted and advanced that set out the background to the allegation, and our client’s defence, as well as providing damning email evidence that demonstrated the allegation was vexatious and our client was in fact the victim of a campaign of harassment. Our client was represented at the police station by Liam Lane.

Following brief written representations that – even after arrest – our client was still being subjected to a campaign of harassment, the investigation was concluded with no further action being taken.

Peters & Peters’ Head of Business Crime and Investigations Nick Vamos, Of Counsel Rachel Cook and Associate Liam Lane advised the client on all relevant aspects of the investigation, supporting him throughout.
