INTERPOL Red Notice removed for Jordanian businessman
Peters & Peters acted for a Jordanian businessman, Mr Almhairat, who was the Director of a telecoms company. It was alleged by two Saudi Prince shareholders, that he had committed offences of breach of trust and embezzlement.
Mr Almhairat strongly contested these allegations on the grounds that they were politically and commercially motivated and had been made in an effort to oust him as Director and secure the transfer of his majority shareholding in the company to the other shareholders.
In pursuit of these allegations, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued in order to seek Mr Almhairat’s location and arrest, with a view to extradition to Saudi Arabia. Following cogent and extensive representations to INTERPOL, Peters & Peters were able to demonstrate that this Red Notice was in breach of INTERPOL’s rules and constitution, and this notice has now been deleted.
