Key facts:

Bumble Bee Foods LLC and ConAgra Brands Inc. have been hit with separate class action lawsuits alleging they have duped consumers with false promises that their seafood products are “sustainable” or “good for the environment”.

The separate complaints, filed in Federal District Courts in the U.S. States of Illinois and California, each seek at least US$5 million in damages.

In March 2024, the Illinois District Court dismissed an attempt by ConAgra to have the claim against it thrown out.
