Stephanie Williams
Stephanie is an associate in our Fraud and Commercial Disputes team.
Stephanie’s practice is focused on a wide range of complex commercial litigation and international arbitration matters, often involving allegations of substantial international fraud.
She has experience with high value, multi-jurisdictional disputes, and has acted for a variety of multinational (both private and public) companies, high-net-worth individuals and sovereign states. She has advised clients in relation to a range of dispute resolution mechanisms including LCIA and ICC arbitration, bilateral investment treaty arbitrations and complex litigation before the courts of England and Wales.
Stephanie has experience of dealing with cases involving urgent injunctions, including freezing orders and Norwich Pharmacal Orders.
Stephanie is a member of the team responsible for Insolvency Watch.
Case examples
Represented the Republic of Mozambique in the US$2 billion “tuna bonds” Commercial Court proceedings against Credit Suisse and Abu Dhabi-based shipbuilder Privinvest, including the successful appeal to the UK Supreme Court on the correct interpretation of section 9 of the Arbitration Act 1996.
Representing a bank in relation to an ongoing dispute in the Commercial Court worth circa $30 million.
Advising a large publicly listed company in relation to ongoing litigation.
Advising two prominent high net worth individuals in relation to asset tracing and subsequent insolvency claims.
Acted for Richard Boath, a defendant in the SFO’s landmark prosecution against former senior executives of Barclays, in which he was unanimously acquitted by a jury at the Central Criminal Court.
